⛵ Join us for the sailing competition at EuroGames Lyon 2025!
Sailing is back in LGBT+ competitions in Europe 🌈. While we wait for the GayGames in Valencia 2026 and the EuroGames in Cardiff 2027, come race against other European teams on the Grand Large lake in Lyon. This venue will also host Rowing and Dragon Boat events, creating a fun and friendly atmosphere 🎉.
📅 Dates and schedule
- Wednesday, July 23, 2025 (optional):
Non-competitive afternoon event. It’s open to anyone who wants to visit the site and try out the boats before the competition. There will be a special fee for this (more info coming soon). - Thursday, July 24, 2025:
Briefing, random boat and group assignments, Group A and Group B races, and an intermediate ranking. - Friday, July 25, 2025:
Group A’ and B’ races, final ranking, and medal ceremony.

👥 Who can join?
- Both categories are for people with sailing experience ⛵.
- You can sign up as a team or by yourself: no worries if your team isn’t complete, the organizers will help you find teammates!
- No gender restrictions, so teams can be mixed or non-mixed.
⚔️ The format
- Two groups in each category.
Friday, July 25: Group A’ will be made of the top 2 from Group A and the bottom 3 from Group B, while Group B’ will have the top 2 from Group B and the bottom 3 from Group A. - Staggered starts: Both categories will race together, but the Recreational category will start a little later.
- Ranking: Ranking will be based on points from each race, and the worst race won’t count.

The sailing competition at EuroGames Lyon 2025 is open to people with disabilities. Yes, this competition requires previous sailing experience for both categories. The competition is not open to beginners. Previous experience of sailing with a crew is recommended, as the technical level is important for safety and performance during the races.
No worries! You can register individually. The organisers will take care of forming crews from the individual entries or filling in incomplete crews. There is no gender distinction in the composition of crews, so crews can be mixed or single-sex.
Yes, of course! The competitions are open to spectators. Come and cheer on the teams and athletes and enjoy the unique atmosphere of this inclusive sporting event that celebrates diversity. Admission is free for spectators and the atmosphere is guaranteed!
