🥋 Karate & Judo at EuroGames Lyon 2025: Mastery of Body and Mind!

This year, dive into the world of martial arts with Karate and Judo. Two Japanese disciplines where strength, technique, and control come together! 💪
Athletes will be grouped by weight category and skill level to ensure balanced and accessible matches for all.

Weight categories: Ensuring fairness between competitors ⚖️

Belt levels:

  • Beginner: White, Yellow, Orange 🟡
  • Intermediate: Green, Blue 🔵
  • Advanced: Brown, Black ⚫

🥋 Karate

Karate is a comprehensive martial art that engages the entire body through defensive techniques followed by attacks. Here’s what awaits you during the 3 days of competition:

  • Sparring: A fight between two athletes with group stages, followed by quarter-finals, semi-finals, and the final 🔥
  • Form (Kata): A codified sequence of defensive, offensive, and movement techniques, available individually or in teams. 🤜🤛

👉 Good to know: A training phase is scheduled for the morning of Thursday, July 24, to help you prepare!

🥋 Judo

Judo, also of Japanese origin, is a martial art focused on close combat. Matches are won in several ways: by throwing the opponent to the ground, immobilizing them, or submission through joint locks or chokeholds.

  • Competition format: Individual and team fights, taking place over a full day. 🏆

Whether you’re here to push your limits or discover these disciplines, EuroGames Lyon 2025 welcomes you to a competition marked by respect, commitment, and fair play. 🌟
