💃 DanceSport & Ballroom Dancing at EuroGames Lyon 2025

 

The DanceSport and Ballroom Dancing competitions at EuroGames Lyon 2025 will take place from July 24 to 26, in collaboration with the European Equality Dance Association (EEDA) European Championships. This exciting event celebrates diversity and inclusion, bringing together a wide range of categories for all dance enthusiasts.

This event includes:

  • Standard and Latin dances, open to same-sex couples.
  • Equality competitions in Standard and Latin dances, open to same-sex, mixed, non-binary, and mobility-impaired couples.
  • Showdance competitions for couples and teams.

 

Dancers may compete in multiple categories with different partners. However, within each category, all dances must be performed with the same partner. Participants in the “Senior” category may also compete in the “Open” category. Costumes must comply with standards of decency and propriety.

 

🕺 Dance Categories

Competitions include the following disciplines:

  • Standard dances
  • Latin dances
  • 10-Dance Combined (Men, Women, and Equality categories)

 

🎭 Showdance for Couples

Each couple performs alone on the dance floor. Music duration must be between 2 min 15 s and 5 min 30 s, including entry and exit.

 

👯 Formation Team / Group Showdance

Formation teams consist of at least 8 dancers and may participate in only one team showdance event. Music duration must be between 4 and 7 minutes, including greetings and exit.

🏆 Competition Rankings

Rankings will be based on the following:

  • Standard, Latin, and 10-Dance Combined: Separate rankings for Men’s couples, Women’s couples, and Equality couples (same-sex, mixed, non-binary, mobility-impaired).
  • Showdance and Formation Team: A single ranking per event.

The competitions will follow the official regulations of the EEDA. All participants and judges must read and adhere to these rules:

  • Same-Sex DanceSport Competition Rules (SSDCR)
  • ShowDance Guidelines for Couples and Groups
  • Appendix 1: Adjudicator’s Code of Conduct
