📝 Registration
- If you register for doubles or mixed doubles, you will need to provide the name, first name, and email of your partner if you have one, or register blind. If you register blind, we will try to pair you with another player of the same or similar level. For mixed doubles, if we cannot find you a partner, you will be moved to the singles competition (we will ask for your singles level during registration in case this happens). This change will not result in a refund.
- If you register blind and later find a partner, you can update your registration to include their name.
🚨 Important information
- For non-binary categories
If the number of participants is insufficient, we will organize a single competition for non-binary players of all levels. In case of low participation, we may need to move registered players to another gendered competition (singles or doubles), depending on the day. You will be informed by email if this affects your category. If moved to a gendered competition, we will contact you to ask which category you wish to join. This change will not result in a refund. - Merging skill levels
Depending on the number of participants, organizers reserve the right to merge certain levels. No changes will result in a refund. - Game rules
All matches will follow the rules of the Badminton World Federation.
All levels will play with feather shuttlecocks.
Get ready to take on the challenge and have fun in an unforgettable competition! 🏸

The tournament is organised by level, with a group phase followed by a knockout phase. Each participant is guaranteed to play at least 4 matches in the singles, doubles and mixed doubles categories 🏸.
There are several level categories to ensure a fair and exciting tournament:
C-: Beginner player
(recreational level, never competed)
C+: Regular player
(more than one year of practice, Gold or Silver podium at C- level in at least 1 tournament)
B-: Confirmed player
(several years of practice, Gold or Silver podium at C+ level in at least 1 tournament)
B+: Competitive player
(regular tournament player, Gold or Silver podium at B- level in at least 1 tournament)
A-: High-level amateur player
(several years’ experience, Gold or Silver podium at B+ level in at least 1 tournament)
A+: High-level amateur player
(Gold or Silver podium at A- level in at least 1 tournament)
In doubles, the highest level player prevails. There cannot be more than one level difference between two categories played.
Not necessarily, it is possible to register as a blind. However, for mixed doubles, if the number of men, women or non-binary players is not balanced, we will have to switch some people to the singles competition. To do this, you will be asked your singles level when you register for mixed doubles. The switch will be automatic and no refunds will be possible.
All matches are played with feather shuttlecocks and follow the official rules of the Badminton World Federation. The finals and 3rd place matches will be refereed to ensure that the matches run smoothly 📋.
If there are not enough entries in a category, the organisers reserve the right to merge the levels or offer you another competition. You will be informed by e-mail if this happens ⚠️.
Of course! Spectators are welcome to cheer on the players and enjoy the friendly, competitive atmosphere of the tournament 🏆.
Potentially only a few weeks before the competition, but all venues are accessible by public transport (metro/tram/bus). We will do our best to inform you as soon as possible.
In the double non-binary category. If the number of registrations in this category is not high enough, we retain the possibility of mixing the levels, or, in the event of a very low turnout, of switching registrants to the men’s double or women’s double competition (we will contact these people to ask for their preference).
At this stage (October 2024), it is still too early to say.
No, to ensure fairness, all levels will play with feather shuttlecocks.
On the sport page, there’s a guide to help you. If you are hesitating between 2 levels, take the one above.
If you have already won a medal (gold or silver) in one level, you must register in the level above (we will have access to the results of previous international competitions and therefore reserve the right to change your level if you have won a medal (gold or silver) and are registered again in the same level).
If you are playing doubles, you must register at the level declared by the player with the highest level.
We ask you to respect these rules so that the game is enjoyable for everyone.
The competition will not be adapted to different handicapping situations, and there are no plans to adapt either the rules or the size of the pitch. If you would like to take part under these conditions, you are more than welcome to do so.
Absolutely, it’s open to everyone, club or not!
On the registration site, you can change your partner’s details (which you will be able to find in the database if he/she has already registered).
You can write to eurogames@lyon2025.com
The levels are those recommended by the EGLSF, so we’re staying within the official Eurogames framework. If you’re used to categorising yourself in C++, level B- is for you!
As most badminton facilities are municipal, the changing rooms are gendered, but we will do our best to offer alternatives, within the constraints that we will have.
