🧗 Climbing at EuroGames Lyon 2025: Reach New Heights!

The climbing competition at EuroGames Lyon 2025 will take place on July 25, 2025, from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM, at Climb Up Lyon Gerland, in partnership with the Groupe Grimpe et Glisse (GGG).

🧗 Competition Information

The event focuses on indoor climbing routes, with a selection of 25 routes reaching 12 meters in height, tailored to different levels. Each participant will have an assigned time slot and can attempt up to 5 routes during their turn.

Skill Groups:

  • Level A: Routes graded 6c, 7a, 7b
  • Level B: Routes graded 6a, 6b, 5c
  • Level C: Routes graded 5a, 5b

The competition follows the “difficulty evaluation” format: the harder the route, the higher the points awarded. Points will be assigned based on a scale presented by the belayers and judges on the event day.

🛠️ Conditions and Equipment

Route Validation Requirements:

  • No falls or requests for “tight rope” during the climb.
  • Reach the top hold and hold it with both hands for 3 seconds.

Required Equipment: Harness, climbing shoes, liquid chalk only.

Competitors will be belayed by trained personnel (no self-belay).

To participate, climbers will need to complete a climbing autonomy form, certifying their rope-handling skills.

♿ Accessibility and Spectators

Specific adaptations are available for athletes with disabilities. The venue is fully accessible, and trained assistants will ensure a safe and inclusive experience.

The Climb Up Lyon Gerland venue will also welcome spectators and will be fully decorated in EuroGames colors for the occasion.

🎭 Special Event – Climb and Drag

In addition to the official competition, an optional and festive contest called “Climb and Drag” will be held on the same day. This event is open to willing participants and spectators.
